For those who look, they will find. I remember when I was very small that some friend has told me that he sees some “shadow man” from time to time. and that man did nothing, just passing by. But I remember I was scared at that time and asked for the light to be on. And as the time passed I forgot all about this, and than couple a days ago I’ve remembered this story and searched the net for this. To my surprise, this friend of mine is not a lonely one out there. There is a lot of people who had similar experiences.
Who are these Shadow People? The term “Shadow People” is a catchall for entities that exhibit certain characteristics – but their origins can be wildly different. There are different kind of Shadow People: Benign Shadows, Negative Shadows, Red-eyed Shadows, Hooded Shadows and the Hat Man. As I was reading more, I got to realize that most of the encounters people had with these Shadow People were harmless. Like these shadows are tormented and just passing by in a search for something or someone. There was no contacts with them but the constant unpleasant feeling and fear. For the type of red-eyed and negative shadows there are stories written where people felt like they are feeding on their fear. Shadow People may be demonic entities, ghosts, inter-dimensional travelers, or other denizens of the dark realm we call the Unknown. Regardless of their label, Shadow People could very well be more than just one type of being. Brad Steiger, author of “Shadow World,” has studied the paranormal for more than 50 years and agrees – there are many possible explanations for Shadow People. “I would say that experiencers are seeing all of the above and giving them/it the name of Shadow People.”
My thoughts are different on this subject. If these are people who are just passing from one place to another or dimensions as some like to call it, how can’t we all see them? I am sure that there are so many thing we are disabled to see or hear, just for being limited with our senses. We know that there are animals which can detect tones and see things we are not able to, and all of them are around us. So this brings me to a question, if some people can see these Shadow People, why can’t we all? And can our senses be trained to see or hear more?

Most of the Shadow People encounters I’ve collected over the years are readily explainable. The experiencer wakes to find a black, human figure standing in the doorway of their bedroom, or leaning over their bed, just watching. A tightness grips their chest like the weight of a person is upon them. They can’t breathe. Suddenly the choking eases, and the Shadow being is gone. This type of encounter is common, and psychology has a name for it – sleep paralysis.
April Haberyan, a psychology professor at Northwest Missouri State University, said most Shadow People encounters are probably the product of dreams. When people sleep and enter the REM phase, “it’s very common for them to see things,” Haberyan said. The fear, the paralysis, and the entities are normal. “There are hormones in REM sleep that paralyze the major muscle groups and it’s called paradoxical sleep,” she said. “(Although) this happens during REM, these people don’t stay asleep and the hormones are still in their bodies. It can last up to eight minutes and they feel pressure on their chest and can see people.” When the experiencer becomes fully awake, the Shadow Person encounter is over – all that’s left is the fear.
From a religious view: Bishop James Long, pastor of St. Christopher Old Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky, has studied demonology for years and knows Shadow People well – to him they are something evil. “Shadow People must be taken seriously and they can be quite dangerous,” he said. “When a human spirit tries to manifest itself, its form is black, or otherwise known as Shadow. It is energy trying to manifest itself so that it can appear to have the physical characteristics it had when living on earth.” These entities can move, communicate, and attack, drawing energy from their human victim. “Certainly Shadows that attack are demonic in nature and should be avoided at all times,” Long said. “I would strongly encourage anyone who witnesses a dark Shadow to be careful.”
Most Shadow People encounters are benign, a dark figure lingering in the corners of your life, watching. Could these entities simply be watching us from a realm barely removed from our own? Marie Jones, author of books exploring science and the paranormal, thinks other dimensions could be homes of Shadow People. “In my research into quantum and theoretical physics, I came across … concepts that really opened up the possibilities to me that entities from somewhere else could be coming here” Jones said.
At the end I am still not sure what this is all about. Are these ghosts, travelers from other dimensions, demons or just our dreams? Who can tell with a certainty what is happening and who or what this is? Is it just a vivid imagination?

Ive been in contact with the shadow and got my Ase kicked they can make real physical contact
It’s all fine and well waking up to see these shadow people, that can probably be put down to after rem images. My experience was seen in the middle of the day, in a busy shopping centre.
I was standing next to my girlfriend, who was sitting on a seat, relaxing when a ‘strange feeling’ prompted me to look up and across the hall, over her shoulder. I felt no fear of this shadow being, but he/she/it was without a doubt there.
He/she/it only appeared for around five or six seconds, but they held my attention. He/she/it looked like a dark outline of a person, walking quickly down the mall. I knew something was wrong, as I could clearly see the wall he/she/it was walking in front of.
Afterwards I felt cold for a little while but then was ok. I hold no fear about these shadow beings, having only seen this one. Any explanations? I’d love to hear from other people who’ve seen them.
I have seen the shadow people on numerous occasions throughout my life, sometimes they are very very tall from floor to ceiling, other times as normal. At times I have been very fearful, but that is only on occasion, certain times I have felt cold but then I always do when in the precense of spirit entities. My most memorable one a couple of years agp was when I went up my very large garden during the night for whatever reason i cannot remember now. It was very tall, came walking towards me and I stopped still, just before it got to me it dissapeared totally. There have been many strange experiences at my home, it was my grandmothers formally and she always talked about things she had seen that she could not explain. eg, apelike figures with red eyes, and shadows.
i could see them since i was a child but never got afraid i always thought they were from onother dimention. I used to see them when i did not felt good and then i had a sense of calmeness i always thought they were friends who understood my mood!!!(forgive my dictation mistakes)
I have seen these shadow ppl at various times in mylife. Wen I was a teen at my parents home in South Africa I often saw 2 ppl walk by my bedroom door late at night dressed in 1800′s formal wear but their feet were invisible.sometimes would wake up usually around 3am and find myself laying flat on my back arms folded on my chest on a neatly made bed. Not sure if it had anything to do with the shadow ppl tho. My most frightening experience was in Vermont where I thought I was dreaming that I was being attacked by someone or something with long claws. In my ‘dream’ was pressed up against the wall just out of its reach. Then I woke up and saw a shadow standing over my roommates bed and mumbled at it in my half awake state and went back to slp. The next morning wen I told my roommate what I had dreamt I was stunned to hear that she heard me crying for help in my sleep but wen she tried to get up to check on me she was unable to cossomething was holding her dwn. The last thing she remembers was me saying “leave us alone” and we both drifted peacefully back to sleep. Would love to hear any thoughts on this.
My father just passed on January 17, 2013. My mother just had a nightmare for the first time January 24th and she woke up screaming. She says that she saw a black shadow and was so scared she could not go back to sleep in her room and so they stayed in the living room and she said she could not stay in the house cause she felt so scared and felt like someone was staring at her. Before my dad passed,he was also seeing this black shadow and was asking us who it was. Of course we couldn’t see it, but he could we just told him to tell it to leave. My dad would describe it as someone wearing a black cape. He had been seeing his deceased brothers before going to be with them. Can you tell me if this is something evil or what we should do about it.
Awful article, just nonsense. You can’t start from a perspective of “This is real, now how do we explain it” and pretend that you have addressed the scientific approach. These things are not accepted by science because there is no evidence to support them.
We no longer have to be afraid of the dark, of monsters, of ghosts. There are more important issues for us, as a species, to address. Time to grow up.

I won’t hold my breath to see my comment published. I can’t help feeling that if people who believe in the supernatural took on the methodology of science, they would be able to figure this stuff out, engage in the world more fully, and feel the “genuine article” of wonderment before the glorious gamut of existence.
The last picture is of “The Hag” – she’s not really a Shadow Person but more like a Night Terror. She is envious and will feed off (mainly) young women. She kneels on their chest and strangles them.
On night coming home from hanging out with friends i went to go lie down on my couch and a shadow person was sitting on the other end of the couch. It turned around and looked right at me at attacked. I remember a certain phrase going through my mind during this encounter. “don’t let it get it’s claws in you!” I don’t know why i though that phrase, or even if it was me thinking that phrase. I think it was my gaurdian angel. Also in my younger years i suffered from sleep pralysis. The two experiences were nothing alike.
I have seen some several times, but the one I remember most clearly was when I was walking upstairs and I turned the corner, Then I saw a figure walk down the hallway, out of one room, and disappear before I would have lost site of it from a wall anyway. For a moment I thought, even though I could see no face, that it looked at me before vanishing. I was understanably scared by a strange in my house, and even more so when I realized he had the consistency of fog and was an undistinguishabe black silouet, but other than all that I didn’t feel unusually scared of him, I usually trust my instincts socially and he just seemed curious. This was in the middle of the day and it was a naturally lit room. I was probably about 8 years old. I have other odd experiences I can’t remember as clearly like this, it’s like they are just watching, and woundering, what will happen with me? Sometimes when I think about it I feel like their personal soap opera, lol. I have allso had sleep paralasis, usually when I have fevers and sleep irregularly, but they were not the same.
We caught actual pictures of a dark figure in our home and the pic right before and after it was not there. The other one was more defined, taller, holding his arm at seeming to be pointing with his arm stretched out and one finger with long sharp nails. It was right where I slept. My friend took a picture in the same spot on another occassion because she could SEE the indention of a body like someone was laying in my bed. I did an EVP and was shocked at what it said. I just asked if anyone was here and it said you were always meant to be with me. It made me angry, and I replied I don’t belong to you or anyone but the creator and his response was bone chilling. He said BITCH, you’re MINE, and I’m going to drag you straight to hell with me. I said what is your problem with me and it said in a more demonic voice, I HATE YOU. This thing is following me and talks on the phone while I’m trying to have a conversation and now my cat is sick and won’t eat and is dieing. I think it’s killing my cat for revenge or something. I came upon this site while looking for ways to banish evil entities from your home. Just an hour ago my phone called my daughter and her phone called me at the same time, so we both had each other on hold. We were both watching TV and the phones were not near anyone. They actually called on their own? Don’t think so. I’m starting to take this (whatever it is) more seriously. But I admit, there are allot of things in the universe and it could be many different things.
