Zombie Nightmare: My Subconscious Experience of the Zombie Apocalypse

Zombie Nightmare: My Subconscious Experience of the Zombie Apocalypse

And so I find myself in the deserted backstreets of some British town or city. Disregarded refuse strewn across the road and pavement. Empty cars come to a violent rest at obscure angles, some partly consumed by what look like mouths created the broken walls of dirty buildings. I’m alone. It’s deadly silent. I creep along the road, careful not to get too close to the broken and cracked windows, openings to the big black unknown, the abyss, the holes to hell. In my hands, I can feel the cold of the scaffolding pipe I carry, raised above my shoulder, ready to strike at any minute.

Five Magic Word Origins

Five Magic Word Origins

So, sure. We’ve all had those days where we wish we could say a couple words, wave a wand, and all our problems would be—hey presto! Gone. And we’ve all probably wished this when our mom/grandparent/sibling/aunt/father/annoying boss patronizingly asked us to “use the magic word….!” (No? Only me? Well, work with me here). The Thing in the Closet

The sudden lightning and crashing of the thunder woke little Billy out of a restless sleep. The rain clacking at the window like long wicked finger nails only added to the fright that held him paralyzed in his bed. Again another hit of lightning struck with a sudden crash of thunder following it. He could tell the storm was directly over his house now. The lightning and thunder exploded right outside his bedroom window as the rain poured down. When the lighting would strike Billy could swear that he saw things outside his window; Long, strange evil things with claws the size of daggers. “They’re only the trees. They have to be just the trees”. He said in an effort to console himself. He lay there watching the rain bang at his window as the tree things seemed to move closer. With every step the tree things took, Billy felt his strength to move slip away. “Close my eyes and count to ten. That will make it go away” Billy told himself in childish desperation. So he did. He closed his eyes and counted to ten. When he opened them to his horror the tree thing was now at his window. Its long, branch fingers were scratching at his window.

Striges And Her Vampire Carnival

Striges And Her Vampire Carnival

It was a dark and unusually foggy night when the massacre occurred. The weather was cold, too cold for summertime. But, that’s how they wanted it. That’s how they brought it with them. I’m speaking of the night the vampires came and took over our small town of San Pedro. Before I go any further, I think I should go back to the days leading up to that horrible night for you.
