Monsters of Canada

Monsters of Canada

Even though many people tend to write off Canada as being either a vast and empty ice covered wasteland or simply a place with well mannered and nice natives, the nation itself has a very rich and long wearing traditions of legends and monsters. Some of the creatures come from the stories and myths from the Native Americans who still live in the country as part of the ethnic group known as the First Nations. However, some were brought over from the stories of European settlers and immigrants. This situation creates a very unique occurrence where an entire country is full of monsters that are from an extended mix of origins but still embraced by a modern population.

Amazing UFO Sightings From Around The World: North America

One of the most commonly held misconceptions about UFOs is that they are only sighted in the skies over the United States. In actual fact, UFOs are a global phenomenon, with known UFO hotspots on every continent. Of course, North America (and the U.S in particular) is the favorite tourist destination of most intergalactic visitors. The U.S has the highest number of recorded UFO sightings of any country in the world and Mexico follows fairly closely behind. Canada is perhaps slightly above average in terms of reported sightings, but all in all this makes North America the Vacation capital of the Solar system.

The Ogopogo

The Ogopogo

While everyone knows about the Loch Ness Monster, not as many know about a similar mythical creature that apparently lives within Okanagan Lake in Canada. The Ogopogo, from many accounts, resembles the Loch Ness Monster, leading many crypto-zoologists to theorize that the two creatures may be of the same species. One interesting link between the two creatures is that they both lie along the same latitude and resemble each other greatly.

The Banff Springs Hotel

The Banff Springs Hotel

Situated within the Rocky Mountains in Banff, Canada, surrounded by majestic peaks and beautiful landscapes, you would be surprised to know that the Banff Springs Hotel, now called the Fairmont Banff Springs, is one very haunted place. In fact, it is considered to be one of the most haunted places in all of Canada. Built in 1887, the Banff Springs was once a railway hotel constructed by Bruce Price over the course of 1887 and 1888. From the beginning, the hotel had odd features about it. For one, when it was built for $250,000, an error resulted in the hotel’s orientation facing away from the mountains. Originally built with 100 rooms, that was expanded in 1902 to 200 rooms, and it was not until 1914 when the hotel was completely renovated so that the rooms faced the mountains, rather than the other way around. The hotel has been the site of unfortunate fires, and royal visits and is considered to be one of the best places to stay not only in Canada, but North America. The hotel is located right near Bow Falls, and thermal springs, which is where the hotel gets its name from. You can also walk from the hotel to the community of Banff, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
