Cryptids That Turned Out To Be Real

Cryptids That Turned Out To Be Real

Cryptids are animals that many claim exist but are often thought of by science to be subjects of tall tales or local legends, but some of these legends have turned out to have a truth to them. For example, the giant panda was thought to be just a part of Chinese folklore until the western world received actual specimens in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The panda is not the only example, though. The mountain gorilla was also originally scoffed at by science. In fact, many discoveries have proven that in the inexact, so called pseudo-science of cryptozoology, that sometimes cryptozoologists can be right. Continue Reading

Ancient Alien Encounters

Ancient Alien Encounters

Some people like to say that alien encounters are a recent phenomenon that are based off of the popularity of science fiction novels, television shows, and movies and the rumor of a crash landed UFO in Roswell, New Mexico during the 1940s which sent the world into an “Alien Age” where everyone became obsessed with extraterrestrials and UFOs. Many individuals like to simply shrug away these encounter stories as people who are seeking attention or are merely having intense dreams with images supplied by science fiction characteristics and concepts. Yet, these nay sayers clearly have not done their research. There are many accounts of UFOs and alien meetings in historic human records (indirectly described of course since these ancient did not exactly understand what they were seeing) that reach all the way back to the ancient Egyptian heyday from the fourteenth century BCE. The reports do not stop there. All through write ups and records in Europe there are some stories that definitely seem like alien convergences with random humans of the past. Continue Reading

The year is 1943 and the U.S. is knee-deep in World War II. The United States Navy is struggling to combat the German U-boat, struggling so much that they are losing ships daily to the Nazi naval forces. In a retaliation effort, the Navy begins Project Rainbow, a secret experimental program spearheaded by some of the most brilliant scientific minds in the world including Albert Einstein. The goal of this experiment is to render warships invisible. This is what proponents of the Philadelphia experiment conspiracy theory would have you believe happened anyway. But is their truth to any of it? What, if anything, happened in the Philadelphia naval shipyard in 1943? Continue Reading

Atlantis: Lost or Found?

Atlantis: Lost or Found?

The lost continent known as Atlantis has captured imaginations all over the world since its story has spread. An ancient civilization that apparently was far ahead of its time and more advanced than we imagined could be possible at that point in history. This amazing place of technological wonders for its time was apparently wiped off the face of the earth, leaving the world in a fog of mystery over its disappearance and the absence of all its levels of advancement over the rest of the ancient world who had to start over from scratch. Even though our modern world has caught back up and even exceeded the unique elements of Atlantis, we are still curious to see if this place actually existed and if it was truly as advanced as the ancient stories. Several schools of thought have been formulated about the possible location of the lost continent with each place having its own positive elements and drawbacks for the Atlantis theory and with many archaeologists and researchers going out into the field and diligently searching for evidence of this amazing city. 5 Real Life Zombies

5 Real Life Zombies

The thought of our bodies walking around and operating without our personal conscious or as the more spiritual believe without our soul is an idea that has intrigued and captivated the minds of human beings for centuries. Whether it be the living-dead and body snatchers of Hollywood movies or the stories of voodoo priests using potions to turn rivals into mindless drones to do their bidding, myths, movies, and stories about zombies have been a mainstay in human culture. But the idea of our bodies walking around without freewill or after we have passed may be closer to the realm of the natural than we all thought. Continue Reading

Telepathy

Telepathy

Oral folklore and historic, native writings throughout the world all feature some form of the psychic phenomenon by which communication can occur between two different minds. This mind to mind communication can include actual words, ideas, or thoughts as well as simple feelings, mental pictures, and sensations. Calling this psychic communication by the name of “telepathy” is a relatively new term though. It was coined in 1882 by a French researcher known as Fredric Myers as a more scientific way to clearly classify these mental connections as “telepathy” is derived from the Greek “tele” which means “distant” and “pathe” which means “feeling” or “occurrence.” Different cultures have different takes on this mystical phenomenon. Some tribal groups, such as the Aborigines in Australia, believe that telepathy is a standard human faculty that all people can tap into and can perfect or hone through extensive practice. More technologically advanced societies like those of the Western world like to classify mind to mind communication as a special ability or gift that belongs specifically to psychics and mystical leaders. Either way, the fact that telepathy is so universally acknowledged leads people to at least have a curiosity about the truth of mental communication. Continue Reading

Types of Modern Witches

Types of Modern Witches

Countless stories in traditional folklore all over the world has some type of magic wielder as a character. Humans are obsessed with creatures who can bend the rules of the natural world through unbelievable powers. A human who could control these powers was known as a witch in most cases, although some traditions like to claim witches to only be women or have a different term for a man who uses magic like a wizard or sorcerer. However, these ancient legends were warped over time with the spread of the religions of Abraham—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. For a long period of time, if someone could even be remotely linked to the use of “magic,” the religious establishment would quickly torture a confession from that person before killing them. The ancient pagan religions that had multiple gods and goddesses as well as a link to nature were forgotten and given up as the heretical past of ancestors. However, over the past century, the strict and brutal treatment of followers of these old religions by the dominant religious faction has inspired a curiosity and even a resurgence of the pagan belief system. Just like with every other religion though, there are schisms, sects, and multiple factions with this growth in the ancient uses of magic and belief in nature deities. The one binding foundation of these new, resurgence of pagans is that they all subscribe to a belief in magic and their ability to harness magic with certain rituals and spells after a great deal of practice. They are all witches. Continue Reading
