When archeologists uncover a newly discovered city or artifact they look at other tangible evidence near the site to uncover what the artifact was used for or what life was like in the ancient city. They will look at records, cave paintings, or art to determine a way of life or they will do a sort of reverse engineering on the artifact to see what it was used for. This unfortunately is not always an option. There are some things left over from the ancient world and no evidence exists to suggest what the purpose of these artifacts were. This leaves the door wide open for multiple theories which often include human sacrifice, long lost religious ceremonies, or even visitors from outer space. Here are 5 such places. These are five of the most mysterious places in the world. Continue Reading
Many cultures, civilizations, and religions speak about disembodied spirits who can potentially invade the living bodies of humans, taking them over to control their physical form to their own wishes. The modern Catholic Church is one of the institutions that not only believes in the idea of a regular human but even promotes it to some extent by having their own investigation teams and exorcism specialists. However, in the past the Church (due to science’s lack of knowledge about the human brain and associated mental conditions) has made the mistake of persecuting and violently “exorcising” people who suffer from psychiatric illnesses. A couple centuries ago any person with Tourette’s syndrome or various forms of psychosis such as Schizophrenia were considered to be demonically possessed as their conditions provided the public with reason to regard them in that light. Modern science has made leaps and bounds in the area of analysis in the human brain and the concept of mental illness has been absorbed by the common public. Even the Church has come to accept the latest discoveries about sicknesses of the mind, despite the fact that the Catholic Church and science have always been butting heads with each other. Now that mental illnesses have found their place away from the concept of demonic possession, a true study of the warning signs of possession can be compiled. Think that someone close to you or even you might be being used by an evil spirit or demon? Here are some things to look out for… Continue Reading

I have been very critical of the ghost hunting techniques used by those on popular paranormal reality television. I do not understand how electromagnetic fields help you find ghosts and I am often annoyed by how often they overreact, but some of the evidence that they have collected does intrigue me, mainly EVP evidence. EVP stands for electronic voice phenomenon, it is an event that occurs when one is using an audio recorder and the recorder picks up a sound that was not heard with the ear but for some reason, usually assumed to be paranormal reasons, showed up in the audio recording. The question is if this is not true evidence of the paranormal then what is it? Continue Reading
As far as conspiracy theories go, David Icke has certainly made a name for himself. Operating in the name of exposing the reality about “who and what is really controlling the world”, Icke has written sixteen extremely long books, given multitudinous lectures and seminars, and appeared on many television and radio shows in search of, and touting, his alleged “truth”. The result is a hypothesis that has entered the mainstream consciousness, collecting quite a David Icke following and quite a bit more ridicule. But what is behind Icke’s ideology—what causes Icke to tick (sorry, too corny and obvious to pass up)? Continue Reading
Some people seem to think that the numerous patriarchal and patrilineal societies try to keep their structures in place by ignoring women. However, all throughout traditional mythology and legends there have been “special” creatures that embrace the feminine sex as their only gender-based form. These magical beings may take on the negative aspects of womanhood as viewed by men or adapt certain scary or intimidating creatures into their feminine physique, but the fact remains solid that the special women had a very strong hold over the mystical and paranormal. They may be mean. They may be strange. They may be downright weird or even frightening. Yet, their female power puts these beings in a special category unto themselves where they are powerful women in a male ruled magical, supernatural world. Continue Reading
In case you have been living under a rock for the last six years, I will first briefly explain what the television show Ghost Hunters is. Ghost Hunters is a paranormal reality television series that follows Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, and their TAPS crew as they investigate claims of the paranormal. They have produced some very compelling visual and audio evidence in support of the paranormal. Continue Reading
There are certain places well-suited for haunting. Prisons and insane asylums house tormented individuals who often die within the buildings that house them, causing them to become tormented souls within their former cells. Probably the most haunted prison in the United States, if not the world, is Eastern State Penitentiary, located in Pennsylvania. Built in 1829, it was the most expensive building ever built in the United States at the time, and it became the template for prisons around the United States. It was believed that those housed within the prison would look within themselves and find God during their imprisonment, but what actually happened is that those who were locked away in solitude eventually became insane. Within the prison, each cell had a table, a bed, a bible and a toilet. For 23 hours a day, prisoners were left in their cells and if they were leaving their cells, a black hood was put over their head so they could not see anyone else. Communication between prisoners was completely forbidden in an effort to cleanse the soul through solitude. Naturally, many inmates broke the rules and when they did, they met with horrible punishments. Continue Reading
The realm of magic is full of “things” that can carry their own secret power. They can be a simple piece of wood used to harness the magical power of an individual—also known as a wand, or they can be a mystical blue sorcerer’s hat that allows the wearer to animate random household objects like in Disney’s Fantasia. Magic itself is generally thought of to be an outside force that flows through anything and everything. The ability of certain objects to be more receptive of that magical force and more pliable when a person wishes to use the object’s link with the supernatural for individual uses truly makes it special though. Some items have a tendency to be more special than others as they are closer to the force of magic. Here is a look at these unique objects thought to be nearer to the magical world and the forces of magic that are of special use when wanting to harness the power for yourself. Continue Reading
